The date branches have a unique color. ranges from glossy green, warm caramel to dark purple, almost black. This natural color palette makes the date branches versatile enough to fit a variety of styles, whether minimalist modern or rustic bohemian. 

We told you earlier about the drying in of the branches. If you leave the branches long enough, the fresh green color of the berries slowly changes to the dark color. The berries literally dry out. You don't have to do anything for this. When the berries have dried in, you can still enjoy them for a very long time. 

Besides being great to look at, date branches also have a deeper meaning in certain cultures. In many societies, dates are considered a symbol of fertility, prosperity and blessings. By including date branches in decorations, people can connect to these rich traditions and meanings.

Behind the scenes

When you look at the branches, you almost forget that the fruits of the date palm tree are also incredibly popular! 

Date branches come from the date palm tree, also known as Phoenix dactylifera. These trees have been cultivated for thousands of years for their nutritious fruit: dates. 

After dates are harvested, branches are often pruned to encourage the growth of new shoots. These shoots will eventually grow into new branches. 

These are cut and sorted by hand. 

The date branches often come from older palm trees, as it takes several years for a palm tree to start producing dates. We import the date branches weekly from Italy.
